Introduction: Edµcation is the backbone of a nation. The people engaged in imparting education are teachers. If we want to ensure an overall development of the nation, we need ideal teachers. In fact, no true or ideal education can ever be imparted without ideal teachers.
Common features of an ideal teacher: The main purposes of our schooling are attaining proper education and building sound character. An ideal teacher contributes to fulfil the purposes. An ideal teacher should be properly educated. He/She will have a love for the profession, diligence, capacity to make teaching effective and interesting and a live conscience.
Proper education: An ideal teacher must be a scholar in his/her field He/She should have all the skills that will help him impart proper education to all the students. In fact, a teacher without proper education and sufficient skills will never be able to make his/her students properly educated.
Love for a profession: To be an ideal teacher, teaching is neither a profession nor a vision. Rather, it is his/her mission to impart true education to the students. He/She loves his/her profession as much as his/her own life and dedicates his/her life to teaching as the noblest profession in the world.
Diligence: An ideal teacher will exercise all reasonable diligence to uplift the standard of the students. He/She will be hardworking and studious. He/She will never get tired while dealing with his/her lessons. In a word, an ideal teacher will be diligent to such an extent that the students will get encouraged following him/her.
Capacity to make teaching effective and interesting: An ideal teacher will have some of the qualities of an ideal actor. He/She will present his/her lesson to the learners in such a way that they feel interested and participate in the class actively. By only ensuring the active participation of the students in the class in different activities, an ideal teacher can make his/her teaching. effective.
Live conscience: He/She should always be aware of what is due to his/her students and give it to them. He/She will never prevent his/her mission from acting like a businessman or a butcher However he/she will mold the character of his/her student s treating with warmth but handling firmness.
Ways to ennqble teachership: Some are born teachers. They possess a natural ability or skill to impart quality education. But they are very short in number. Hence, there raises the demand for developing teachership skills. Primarily, formal coursework and practice teaching is needed for the professional preparation of teachers. Then they themselves should try to raise the series of humanity in them. Intense interest in the career of students, love for their welfare and the attitude to treat students as their off-spring show the sense of humanity in a teacher.
Conclusion: Whether a born teacher or a made one, a teacher should always be conscious of the duties and responsibilities of his/her teachership. Only then he/she will be able to perform like an ideal teacher.
