Science in Everyday Life

Hints: Introduction, Science in every sphere of life, In curing diseases, In rural life, Bad effects of science, Conclusion.

Introduction: We live in an age of science. Wherever we may tum our eyes, we find the achievement of science. Modern civilization is based on science. We can conclude science has made men what they are now.

Science is every sphere of life: Perhaps we cannot do even for a single day without the help of science. Our houses and streets are now lighted with electricity. Computer, cinema, radio, electric fans are all gifts of science. Motor cars, telephones, television, etc. also are gifts of science. Mills and factories also run by electricity.

In curing diseases: Science fights against disease. It has removed human suffering. Doctors use scientific instruments and drugs to cure diseases. Modem hospitals cannot run wid\out the help of science. X-ray, ultraviolet ray, penicillin, and radium therapy are the gifts of science.

In rural life: In rural areas, people cannot do without bicycles, torch-lights which are also the gift of science. The bicycle carries the village doctors, the teachers, the students, and the shopkeepers to the places of their works. Torches give them light in the darkness of night. There is electricity in some of our villages. When our country makes further progress our village will enjoy more the fruits of science than at present.

Bad effects of science: Science has also created some bad effects in our everyday life. The workers of mills and factories have to work in an unhealthy condition and live in dark slums. In wartime deadly weapons invented by science kill thousands of people and ruin cities and villages. Thus the bad effects of science are felt by the
common people in his daily life.

Conclusion: But science itself is not responsible for these evil deeds. It is the devil in men which puts it to wrong use. It is a powerful weapon in the hands of men. It is for men to use it wisely.
