Introduction: Students are the future of a nation. They are the makers of society. They are the soldiers of social peace. Studen is indulging in politics is undesirable. Students taking part in politics or not is a controversial matter the guardians and authorities of a country want to keep the students aloof from politics. The opposition leaders want them in politics because students are daring for demonstrations, mass meeting and shouting slogans.
Importance of students politics: Students are young generation of the country. They are full of enthusiasm, energy, and vigor in every aspect of life. They are the selfless worker of the country. Organized and politically conscious students are a mighty force. They have enough time and opportunity to think over political matters and relieve it from stagnation. They 1nay easily criticize the unlawful activities of the ruling party. They can raise demonstrations against the corruption of politicians and administrators. Students read history, public administrations, social science, political science, and economics. So. they can understand the current situation of a country. They can free the country from being static and sloth at the hands of the elders.
Contribution of student’s politics: The contribution of student’s politics cannot be ignored in our country. The students took the lead in the language movement of 1952. As a result, we have had our mother tongue, Bangla in 1971, the students joined the war of independence. The independence of the country was achieved as a result of their noble sacrifice and fierce fighting. From 1982 to 1990 several movements against autocracy were led by them with the co-operation of the political parties.
Bad effects of student’s politics: The bad effects of student’s politics are many. Most of the students are immature. They are easily misguided by clever agents of political parties. Thy politicians use them for their own interest. They have given arms to support the respective parties or to destroy the powerful leaders of the opposite party. As a result, violence is common now in educational institutions. Educational years are lost from their lives as the institutions have to be closed to avoid violence. If students take part in politics on a permanent basis, their studies are greatly hampered.
Politics in the West: The distinction in politics is observed in the progressive countries of the West. Their students take an interest in the current politics of their country. They discuss political problems in their unions and societies but keep aloof from the heat and bustle of political life. But the opposite picture is found in our country.
Conclusion: The students of today will lead the nation tomorrow. They must train themselves to be men who will exercise the rights and bear the responsibilities of the free citizens. But if they mix too much in politics, it will make them unfit for political life. So the students should be aware of their main purpose.
