Introduction: Globalization has become a buzz word in the new era of international relations. It is a worldwide working policy. The present age is an age Of globalization. Globalization is now only what technology makes possible.
What is globalization: Globahzat1on is a process of expanding trade and commerce all over the world by creating a borderless market. According to Rajaskeron, “Globalization means to get economic market open and investment attracted”.
It aims: It aims at removing all the barriers of entering goods and products from industrially developed countries. It aims at the creation of a borderless and open market. Its main objective is to create unity between the north-the south· and the east-the west.
Basis of globalization: Globalization is-now on a strong foundation. The use of computer, mobile and satellite networks, internet and other information technology has brought the whole world in our drawing room or office room. In fact, knowing about the world has become a matter of clicking the mouse of a computer. This technology is largely changing banking and financial activities. This has resulted in the easy and fast moment of ideas goods, information services and people globally. This is called the globalizing process of globalization.
Usefulness: With the development of hi-tech l communication media and rapid transportation facilities, the world has come closer. We can now learn in an instant what is happening in the farthest corner of the world and travel to any country in the shortest possible time. Countries in the world are like-families in a village. They can share their joys and sorrows like next-door neighbours. If a country is in distress, others can immediately come to its help.
Demerits: Globalization has some demerits. It is creating more opportunities for capitalist countries rather than for developing ones. As a result, the gap between wealth and poverty is over widening. Globalization has put the people of the world on the same vessel but in different cabins. Under the influence of globalization, global cultures are steadily getting integrated with local cultures. Satellite channels and internet are bringing all sorts of different cultures and behaviour into our homes. It I is termed as cultural intrusion.
Globalization and Bangladesh: Bangladesh is a developing country. This country can’t last before the strong tide of globalization. Because of the fact that it has no expert manpower, modern machinery, strong, economic basis, durable commodities, good technology and the like. For all these, Bangladesh can’t be benefited by dint of globalization.
The duties of Bangladesh in the field of globalization: The duties of Bangladesh in the field of globalization are noted below:
(a) The infrastructure of the country will have to be developed.
(b) We shall have to manage expert investments in social, economic, education, health and security sectors.
(c) We shall have to ascertain good governance.
(d) We shall have to keep up political and social stability.
Conclusion: To conclude globalization can bring happiness to everyone when all people of the world can travel in the same vessel in same cabin. We expect that Bangladesh might progress with the rapid advancement of globalisation.
