Write a composition in 250 words about ‘Your Favourite Game‘,

My Favourite Game

Or, The game of Football

Or, My Favourite Sport

Or, The Game like Most/Best

Hints: Introduction, How played, Rules, Conclusion.

Introduction:  The game that I like the best in football. It is an outdoor game and it was first played in England. Now it is played in all countries of the world. Like cricket, football is not a costly game. The game is full of thrill for both the players and the spectators. It is good for health and teaches us many qualities. So it is my favourite game.

How played: The game is played between two teams. Each team has eleven players. Each has a goalkeeper. He keeps the goal. There are two backs and three half-backs. They put off the attacks of the opponent players and supply balls to the forwards. There are five forward players in each team. They attack the goal of the opponent team. There is a referee who guides the game. The referee is helped by two linesmen. The field is 120 yards long and 80 yards wide. There are two poles with a bar on them at each end of the field. The ball is pushed through between them and a goal is scored. At the beginning of the play, the ball is placed at the centre of the field. The Referee whistles and the game begins. A whole game lasts for about one and a half hours and is divided into two halves. There is a ten-minute recess between the two halves.

Rules: The game has some particular rules. The players have to obey those rules. During the play, no player can touch the ball with hands. Only the goalkeeper can touch it with hands in D-box. The referee marks and checks any break of rules.

Merits: The game is of great merit. It teaches the principle of obedience to rules. It also teaches discipline and team spirit. The players learn to take the defeat in a sportsmanlike spirit. The game also teaches the qualities of leadership. It makes the players prompt, cautious, careful, strong and active.

Conclusion: Football is a foreign game. Yet it is the most popular game in Bangladesh. In spite of some risks that our legs or other parts of the body may be injured, I like the game best. It helps build up to the body and make the mind cheerful. H does not create day-long wastage of time as-cricket does. Our standard of football is still very low. The authority should take care of the popular game.
